Solar radiators

Where are solar spotlights used in the garden and outdoors?

Solar spotlights can be added to outdoor lighting concepts at any time. As solar spotlights, like other solar lights, do not require a socket or electric cable, they can be used in a wide variety of ways. Solar radiators do not incur any additional operating and electricity costs, making them more environmentally friendly and energy-saving.

Solar radiators for trees and shrubs

Trees and shrubs are beautifully showcased with solar spotlights. A single spotlight can create an interesting interplay of light and shadow. Several spotlights from different angles emphasise the volume of the foliage. Further information in our Tree lighting guide.

Solar radiators can be added flexibly around the house. Brightnesses between 500 and 1,000 lumens are common. If the lighting is relevant to safety, e.g. on stairs or in side alleys, a spotlight permanently connected to the mains is recommended. Further information in the Guide to façade lighting.

Solar spotlights can be added to the lighting concept in the garden at any time. The focus here is on staging the property, which does not disappear into darkness at night but is illuminated in an energy-efficient way. Lighting ideas for solar lights in the garden can be found in our inspiration section.

Prios LED solar wall spotlight
Solar spotlight on the garage

A solar spotlight on the garage usually has an integrated motion detector. This only switches the light on when a car or resident approaches the driveway. In terms of brightness, solar spotlights from 1,000 lumens upwards make sense. Further information in the Guide to courtyard and driveway lighting.

Solar Spot ground spike LEDVANCE
Solar spotlights for path lighting

Paths can be easily illuminated using solar spotlights, as the spotlights do not require a power connection. Illuminated paths run through the property like strips of light, setting the scene and at the same time increasing surefootedness. The spotlight is aimed directly at the path.

Solar radiators on the garden shed

Solar spotlights are an excellent way of providing the garden shed with an additional light source, as the garden shed is often not connected to the mains supply. Solar spotlights illuminate the garden shed independently of the power supply. Further information in our Garden shed lighting guide.

What are the advantages of LED technology for solar spotlights?

Solar spotlights are generally always operated with permanently installed LEDs. The reason is that LEDs are particularly energy-efficient - the energy provided by the solar spotlight's battery therefore lasts longer. An LED solar spotlight combines the advantages of LEDs with photovoltaics and also has a long service life.

Note: If solar radiators are nevertheless defective, they are considered electronic waste and must be taken to a collection point. They must not be disposed of with household waste.

How are solar radiators mounted?

Solar radiators are either inserted into suitable soil (lawn, flower bed, loose soil in general) with a ground spike, screwed to a wall or to solid ground (stone slabs, paving, walls). The article details reveal more about the mounting options for the respective outdoor solar spotlight.

Are there solar spotlights with motion detectors?

A solar spotlight with motion detector switches the light on when it is needed. This increases comfort and home security and reduces energy consumption. The lower energy consumption also ensures even longer battery life.

The best solar spotlights have permanently installed LEDs and a motion detector. This maximises their efficiency. Another advantage of LED lighting technology in this case is that it immediately achieves 100 % brightness - perfect for increasing home security.

What is the best way to align solar radiators?

No matter which mounting option or location you choose: The solar spotlight works best when the solar panel is positioned so that it catches most of the sun's rays. More precisely: The solar panel should face south, be cleaned regularly and, if possible, not be covered or shaded by bushes or trees.

Solar spotlight with fixed panel

For solar radiators with a fixed panel, it is important to ensure that the panel is exposed to the sun for as long as possible.

With these products, the panel can be aligned more precisely. A tilt angle of 35° is ideal for capturing sunlight.

These panels are connected to the solar radiator by cable. This means it can be flexibly aligned, e.g. around the corner of a house.
