Louis Poulsen PH 80 floor lamp, white/chrome/opal, switch

The PH 80 floor lamp, whose design is inspired by Poul Henningsen’s famous series of lights featuring a triple-shade system, was not released until after the designer’s death, to mark his 80th birthday in 1974, which is why it was named PH 80. Unlike in the original series, the number 80 does not refer to the diameter of the shade segments, but is intended as a tribute to the designer on his birthday.

The shade segments are made of high-pressure moulded, opalised acrylic and cast a pleasant light throughout the room. The red reflector on the upper side also creates a warm glow. The lamp base is also made from high-pressure moulded ABS plastic. The stand tube is made of steel and has a glossy chrome finish. All in all, it is an atmospheric supplementary light source for the living room which, with its timeless design, will bring joy for many years to come.

During the designer’s collaboration with the lighting company Louis Poulsen, 19 models of the three-shade system were created in a wide variety of sizes and colours – totalling around a thousand variations.
