Patera Oval pendant light – cellular structure with clever internal light control The flat oval body is composed of numerous matt white plastic cells. These are deliberately designed so that the light is emitted directly downwards and reflected from the side walls of the cells at a viewing angle of 40° or more, providing indirect lighting. This allows Patera Oval to provide both direct table lighting and soft ambient lighting at the same time. If required, the downward light emitted by the E27 bulb (not included) can be dimmed by using the diffuser supplied.
Danish designer Øivind Slaatto based the design of the structure on the Fibonacci sequence, a mathematical series of consecutive numbers, each of which is the sum of the two previous numbers. This sequence can be found in numerous natural objects, such as the structure of leaves or snail shells.
The Patera series of lights perfectly complements the maxim of lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen, founded in 1874, which is to give light form through consciously designed luminaires and generate a positive effect on people and spaces.
