AJ Designer Floor Lamp – Adjustable light direction

The AJ floor lamp has come to be regarded as a design classic, having been designed back in 1957 by the Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen. As part of his overall concept for the SAS Royal (Radisson) Hotel in Copenhagen, Jacobsen developed a series of lights named after its creative designer. Some elements of this hotel’s interior design have become true design icons, including the minimalist AJ floor lamp.

The viewer’s attention is drawn to the lampshade, which is shaped like a cone at the bottom and a cylinder at the top, naturally shaping the light it emits. The angle of the lampshade can be adjusted so that the light is directed in the desired direction. The inside of the lampshade is finished in white lacquer, which ensures ideal reflection and efficient light distribution. It is conveniently operated via the integrated foot switch.

The AJ floor lamp is a product from the Danish lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen, which has been presenting light in its most beautiful form since its foundation in 1874. Louis Poulsen is a pioneer of Scandinavian design and offers lighting fixtures based on the principle of ‘form follows function’.
