Foscarini Tress media - floor lamp made of glass fibre ribbon, with dimmer A cylindrical light sculpture made of glass fibre ribbon coated with epoxy resin - that's the Tress media floor lamp from Foscarini. Inspired by the seductive form of a braided plait, industrial designer Marc Sadler created the Tress lamp series in 2008. An ingenious concept that combines a machine-rotated cylindrical shape with detailed handwork for the finishing touches is used in the production of the Tress media floor lamp. A narrow glass fibre ribbon is wrapped around the cylindrical shape and then hardened with synthetic resin. The result is a characteristic weave that creates an interplay of light and shadow as soon as the floor lamp is switched on. Light and matter are skilfully placed in relation to each other - a spectacle of a special kind. The option of infinitely variable brightness adjustment via the dimmer in the supply cable is almost a minor matter.
