This pendant lamp gives the impression of being a relic from an old steamboat. In fact, it has a nameplate that refers to the S.S. Puritan, a ship that entered service in 1889 and was used on a section of the route between New York and Boston.
The rust-brown chain links and fastening elements as well as traces in the painting of the cylindrical ceramic umbrella point to the rough conditions at sea and the past time.
