Anyone who thinks of pendant luminaires with glass lampshades as something fragile may be right about impact-resistant diffuser luminaires for industry, but they are overlooking the value for the interior. Because glass pendant lights are simply elegant, fantastically beautiful - and bright! This is because with many glass pendant luminaires, the light can shine in all directions without obstruction. And to be honest: what are the chances of smashing the glass ball with a metal pipe in the kitchen, living room or dining room?
How high should I hang a pendant light with a glass shade above the table?
Normally you hit a glass with a teaspoon when you want to make toast. But not against the glass of the pendant light, please! But this is exactly what happens if you simply hang the pendant light too low. But it shouldn't hang too high either, otherwise the cosy atmosphere at the dining table will be ruined.
The lower edge of a pendant light should be 60-80 cm above the table top. This provides enough space for heads to lean expectantly over the pot of spaghetti, gives a good view of the person opposite and creates a beautiful light area around the dining table. This is how a successful evening in pendant light should be!
How do I clean a glass pendant light?
It doesn't even get light in the room! Is the bulb broken? Or the light switch? Quickly switched on and off again - nothing again. Take a closer look. If you notice a thick layer of dust on your beautiful glass lampshades: sorry, the light can be as bright as it wants - it will remain dark.
Pendant lights with glass shades are beautiful. And to make sure they stay that way, you can give them regular simple care and cleaning. Don't worry, it really isn't difficult and you don't have to keep any appointments free. A good basic cleaning is already possible:
De-energise** the light via the fuse (circuit breaker). Check this again on the light with a 2-pole voltage tester.
Allow the light to cool down completely.
Clean the light in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Lampenwelt recommends cleaning with dry microfibre cloths. Chemical or biological cleaners should not be used.
For glass crystal lights, we also recommend a special cleaner - please follow the instructions on the packaging.
After cleaning, try switching the light on again. And? Isn't it much brighter and nicer in the room?
