Louis Poulsen Patera Oval Pendant Light E27, white, Ø 50 cm

Patera Oval Designer Pendant Light – Cellular structure with clever internal light guidance

The distinctive diamond-like structure of the Patera pendant light not only defines its design but also determines the light output. The flat, oval body is composed of numerous matt white plastic cells. These are deliberately designed so that the light shines directly downwards and, from a viewing angle of 40°, is reflected off the side walls of the cells and emitted indirectly. This allows the Patera Oval, for example, to provide both direct table lighting and soft ambient lighting at the same time. If required, the downward-directed light from the E27 bulb (not included) can be made glare-free by inserting the supplied diffuser.

Danish designer Øivind Slaatto drew inspiration for the structure’s design from the Fibonacci sequence, a mathematical series of consecutive numbers, each of which is the sum of the two preceding numbers. This sequence is evident in numerous natural objects, such as the structure of leaves or snail shells.

The Patera series of lights is perfectly in keeping with the philosophy of the lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen, founded in 1874, which is to give form to light through carefully crafted designs and to create a positive effect on people and spaces.
