AJ wall light – a timeless fusion of cone and cylinder shapes

The AJ wall light impresses not only with its timeless beauty, but also and especially with its ingenious functionality. Designed in 1957 by Danish architect Arne Jacobsen as part of the overall design of the SAS Royal Hotel (Radisson) in Copenhagen, the wall light is as contemporary today as it was then and is now considered a design icon, like other elements of the hotel's interior. AJ is equipped with a round wall bracket with an on/off switch and a slim, vertical arm. The latter supports the lampshade, which is conical at the bottom and cylindrical at the top. The lampshade can be adjusted to direct the light to the desired area. This makes the wall light ideal as a light source above the headboard in the bedroom or above the sofa in the reading corner, for example.

The AJ wall light follows the concept of Danish lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen, which is to combine a simple yet stylish look with useful and pleasant lighting effects in its light fixtures.
