Elegant LED ceiling light Planet with crystal effect - Design by Tokujin Yoshioka Designer Tokujin Yoshioka asked himself whether a lampshade made of modern plastic could produce the same sparkling lighting effects as a crystal shade when he created his new light series for the Italian design company Kartell. The Planet model, as he later called this design, required extensive experimentation with the synthetic resin. This is because a glittering effect can only be achieved if the resin is processed in such a way that different material thicknesses come into play. The result of the many experiments can be marvelled at in the Planet LED ceiling light. When switched on, it emits a sparkling and glittering light that resembles that of a crystal lamp. Kartell, based in Milan, is known for its designer pieces made of plastic, including furniture, household goods and lamps. Many of Kartell's designer pieces have not only won various design awards, but can now also be admired as modern classics in museums.
