Chanpen hemp pendant light by Forestier
Chanpen is the name of the series of lights developed by designer Anon Pairot for the French lighting manufacturer Forestier. Chanpen means ‘full moon’, which says a great deal about the shape of the light. The lampshade is circular and, when suspended from the ceiling, really does look like a full moon. What makes the material of the lampshade so special is that it is made from abacá – a specific type of hemp fibre. The fibres, which vary in thickness, are woven around the lampshade’s frame in a diamond pattern reminiscent of a diamond cut.
Anon Pairot has previously worked for renowned companies such as Fendi, Habitat and Grohe, and at Forestier he was able to indulge his passion for working with natural materials and design Chanpen, a light made from hemp.
