Dark ‘Flechtwerk’ pendant light with a 3D-printed spherical lampshade

Spherical lampshades are by no means a rarity in pendant lights these days. And yet the ‘Flechtwerk’ pendant light clearly stands out from what we are used to seeing in this form. This is primarily because the spherical shade of the ‘Flechtwerk’ – designed and manufactured in Germany – was produced using a 3D printer, which allows for particularly innovative designs and shapes that could not otherwise be created. In the case of Flechtwerk, it is somehow reminiscent of a chessboard, as the pattern – which essentially consists of small dark squares and corresponding gaps – features a regular alternation of light and dark areas. This effect becomes even more pronounced as soon as you switch the light on, for then you can also see the chequerboard pattern in the room, on so-called projection surfaces, where you then perceive an enchanting interplay of light and shadow.
