For me, the special appeal of retro lies in the fact that not everything has to match perfectly. A flea market find with patina, a lamp made of tinted glass or shiny metal, along with a new design piece can together seem much more exciting than a room completely geared towards retro. I find it particularly beautiful when a retro lamp stands out as a true statement piece and the rest of the furnishings remain somewhat calmer.
When it comes to the light itself, it's worth looking at the details: warm white light with 2,700-3,000 Kelvin emphasizes the cozy retro character. Different light sources create depth – for example, a pendant lamp for the dining table, a table lamp on the sideboard, and a floor lamp next to the sofa. It becomes especially charming when the light plays with different materials: opal glass diffuses it softly, ribbed or tinted glass creates lively reflections, and shiny metal throws it back into the room.
