Mission Light: kdln

kdln lighting is underpinned by a unique philosophy: the vision of extra-sensory design and light. Indeed, the expressive lighting objects from the Milan-based company appeal to all the senses. The sight of a kdln light evokes an immediate emotional response in the viewer. ‘kdln’ comes from ancient Indian and means ‘the power within humankind’. This power is also embodied in kdln’s lights, which have been created since 1996 in collaboration with international designers such as Helen Konturis, Alessandro Mendini and Norman Foster. kdln achieves the rich variety of forms and colours in its products by investing in research into innovative technologies and materials. One impressive result, for example, is the ‘Abyss’ light series made from flexible Plexiglas.
