The name "Terho" of this pendant light is the Finnish word for "acorn"; the lampshade of the pendant light is shaped like the fruit of an oak tree. It consists of a lime wood cap and an opal diffuser made of hand-blown glass. Even when switched off, Terho is a stylish interior design element, and when switched on, it provides soft general or table lighting.

Terho was designed by Maija Puoskari, a Finnish designer with a studio in Kallio (a district of Helsinki), whose passions include fishing, mushroom picking and campfires. The design of the pendant light is also inspired by a natural model. Puoskari mainly focuses on lighting and interior design, but also designs tableware collections for international brands. In 2016, she was nominated for the Nordic Design of the Year award. Since 2017, her work has also been on display at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Berlin.

The furniture and lighting manufacturer Mater works with both established and young designers, combining exclusive high-end products with working methods that focus on local craft traditions, people and the environment. The aesthetics of the products clearly refer to Scandinavian minimalism – beauty in its purest form.
