Swirl 2 designer pendant light with handmade plastic shade Danish designer Øivind Slaatto draws much of his inspiration from Natur. He is particularly fond of the snail. Its Hausen also seems to be the model for the Swirl pendant light, whose twists and turns are vaguely reminiscent of a snail's shell. His motto is: light, form and function of a light should always enter into a symbiosis wherever possible. With the pendant light, he has obviously lived up to his own motto. True to the Scandinavian Stil, Swirl has a timeless and functional design that is not lacking in sophistication despite its simplicity and functionality. The plastic elements that make up the lampshade are white on the underside and copper-coloured on the top. Most of these Danish-made lights are still made by hand, as some complicated techniques cannot be carried out satisfactorily by machines. The company was founded in the Danish capital back in 1943 and has been producing designer lights by hand and with the utmost care ever since.
