Iguazu round ceiling light made from jute
Iguazu is named after the waterfalls on the border between Brazil and Argentina; they are the largest waterfalls in South America and a popular tourist destination. Just as the water flows downwards, so too do the fine lines of the round jute lampshade. The lampshades are largely handcrafted by artisans in Vietnam.
The ceiling light is made from jute, a popular natural fibre renowned for its unique properties. As well as being robust, jute is highly elastic and tear-resistant. The main growing areas are fertile alluvial soils, thanks to which the undemanding jute plant does not require fertiliser. This offers a major advantage for the environment and farmers compared to intensive cotton cultivation.
