Orient™ pendant light with organically shaped aluminium shade The design of the Orient™ pendant light was created by Jo Hammerborg in 1963 and has lost none of its stylistic presence. A pendant light whose aluminium shade is individually handcrafted into its organic form in a wooden mould and which is ideal for illuminating a dining table or counter, for example. Jo Hammerborg (1920-1982) trained as a silversmith, took part in Denmark's fight for freedom as a saboteur from 1940-1945, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and worked as head of design at the lighting manufacturer Fog&Mørup from 1957-1980. During this time, he created more than 180 lights that were characterised by his clear design philosophy and his enormous understanding of form, function and aesthetics. For decades, his creations were only available from antique dealers. In 2013, the traditional Danish company FRITZ HANSEN decided to relaunch the Orient™ pendant light together with Jo Hammerborg's family. FRITZ HANSEN has been a guarantee for products of high craftsmanship and exclusive design for almost 150 years.
