Calabash™ designer pendant light - an eye-catcher both on and off This pendant light makes a splash in any room and in any place: Calabash™ looks very impressive both on and off. The name is inspired by the design, which is modelled on the shape of a calabash pumpkin. Calabash™ is not only effective as a solitaire, but also as a duet or in a group, e.g. as a light source above a dining table or counter. Komplot Design is responsible for the expressive design of the Calabash™ pendant light. The name Komplot Design stands for the designer duo Poul Christiansen and Boris Berlin, the founders of the Komplot Design studio, which was established in 1987 and is now one of Denmark's most innovative design studios. They have succeeded in continuing and renewing the tradition of Danish design while also taking international design into account. The history of the FRITZ HANSEN company begins with its founder of the same name, Fritz Hansen, a cabinetmaker who was granted a trading licence for Copenhagen in 1872. in 1885 he founded his own furniture manufacturing company and two years later a company in Christianshavn in the centre of Copenhagen. The high quality standards introduced by Fritz and his son Christian still characterise the Danish company's product range today. Even in the first 50 years of the company's history, the company enjoyed a high reputation. Fritz Hansen furnished buildings such as the University Library, Copenhagen City Hall, the Supreme Court, Christiansborg and other important projects. In the 1930s, high-quality furniture made of laminated wood was introduced, which became a speciality of the company. Many renowned architects and designers, such as Arne Jacobsen, Hans Wegner and Verner Panton, worked with FRITZ HANSEN. In 1979, the company, which until then had been family-run, was largely transferred to Skandinavisk Holding.
