Foscarini Satellight – pendant light made from handblown glass

The Satellight pendant light is a pendant luminaire with diffused, downwards-directed light. Its lampshade is made from handblown, transparent glass, which houses a white glass sphere containing the LED bulb. When the light is switched on, the glass sphere appears to float like the moon in the night sky, whilst at the same time seeming to be trapped within a glass bell jar. This distinctive visual effect is the core concept behind the Satellight, designed by Eugeni Quitllet. The designer describes himself as a ‘Disoñador’ – a coined term meaning half designer, half dreamer. Satellight marks his first collaboration with Foscarini.
