The German company Tagwerk produces lampshades and complete lights using 3D printing. Both the design and manufacture are ‘Made in Germany’ and point the way to the future of consumer goods.

In the case of the Diamant Olive floor lamp, the lampshade is made from a material derived from waste products from the timber industry mixed with maize starch. This material, known as lignin, is lightweight, sturdy and wipe-clean. The pattern on the lampshade is reminiscent of diamonds, thanks to the shape of the cut-outs. The light shining through the cut-outs creates a pretty pattern on the wall. The base has a minimalist design, featuring a round base plate and a slender stem. The switch is located on the socket.
