Round wall lamp AJ Eklipta with all-round effective lighting effect

The original design for the wall lamp AJ Eklipta by Arne Jacobsen dates back to 1959 and was conceived for the town hall in Rødovre (Denmark) in two sizes as a staircase or outdoor wall lamp. Later, a third size with a smaller diameter was added for St. Catherine's College in Great Britain. To this day, the AJ Eklipta wall lamp is considered the architectural icing on the cake.

AJ Eklipta's shade consists of a three-layer opal glass (mouth-blown) and forms an evenly illuminated surface. The edge of the round outdoor wall lamp is clearly designed and forms a kind of halo of light around the lamp. The wall bracket is made of white lacquered aluminium. A wall lamp that meets the highest functional as well as visual requirements.

The designer Arne Jacobsen, born in Copenhagen, worked as an architect and designer in the product area. Among his most important projects are the SAS Royal & Terminal Hotel in Copenhagen (1960), the National Bank in Copenhagen (1971) and the St. Catherine's College in Oxford (Great Britain, 1963). However, he did not limit his work to the architecture of a building, but also designed for architecture-related areas, creating fabrics, wallpaper patterns, door handles, bathroom fittings, lighting, furniture and cutlery. His two chairs "The Egg" and "The Swan" became famous. During his eleven years as professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Art, he influenced a whole generation of architects.

The ambition of the lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen (Denmark) is to give light a form and to create an atmosphere in which people feel comfortable. The company achieves this goal with the help of renowned architects and designers and is now considered one of the world's leading lighting manufacturers.
