Sola pendant lamp with bamboo shade spreading natural flair The Sola pendant lamp has the same geometry as the lamps of the Floral and Coral series, which were also created by designer David Trubridge. In his designs, the Englishman, who now lives and works in New Zealand, draws on the beauty of his surroundings in his new homeland. As an advocate of eco and slow design, the creator of wonderful furniture and luminaires relies on the use of sustainably sourced materials as well as low CO2 consumption in the processing and transport of his works. For this reason, the Sola pendant lamp, whose shade consists of numerous elements made of bamboo veneer, is also delivered folded. Sola is part of the Icarus installation by David Trubridge in Milan, based on the Icarus legend about a boy who flew too high and came too close to the sun. Here, Sola embodies the sun; the individual shapes look a bit like solar flares. When the lighting is switched on, the result is not only an aesthetic lighting effect, but also a decorative play of shadows in the surroundings. The complete Icarus installation is now in the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
