Discovery LED pendant light looks different when it is switched on and when it is switched off

The design of the Discovery light is defined by the lightness and the apparent weightlessness that it conveys. Another visual aspect is that it looks different when it is switched on and when it is switched off. When it is off, only the ring-shaped aluminium profile is visible. When the LEDs embedded all around the inside of this profile are on, the emitted light causes the plastic disc within the ring, which is otherwise transparent, to become visible. For the production of such a light and delicate hanging light, the manufacturers and designers consulted bicycle manufacturers. Only then was it possible to produce such a thin and light profile and thus to create an almost invisible light.

You can use a separate push button to dim the Discovery hanging light. This requires a five-core connection cable.

Discovery was designed by Ernesto Gismondi, the founder of the Italian designer lighting company Artemide, whose headquarters have been located near Milan since its foundation in 1960. Today, the company consists of a global distribution network, its own production facilities, glass factories and an innovation and research centre. The lights, which are designed for Artemide by internationally renowned designers, enjoy huge popularity and a high profile throughout the world and have already won numerous awards.
