PH 3 1/2-3 glass pendant light by Poul Henningsen with the classic triple lampshade system

Poul Henningsen designed the triple lampshade system in 1925/26 for the Danish lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen. The lampshade consists of triple-layered, handblown opal glass that is glossy on the top and matt sandblasted on the inside. These characteristics of the glass create a soft light distribution, which is also glare-free. Henningsen has repeatedly made calculations about this and has finally curved the three glass lampshades specially and arranged them in such a way that dining tables, for example, or the room itself are illuminated without glare. The light’s suspension system is made of brass and has a high-gloss chrome-plated finish, underlining the lustre of the lampshade.
