Mood Lights

Recent developments in lighting technology have seen a move from the use of light in a purely functional manner to its use as art in its own right. Whether as an individual lighting feature or as a combination, lighting has the ability to dramatically alter both the look and ambiance of a room. An excellent example of the dramatic and varied way that lighting can be used to transform the home is illustrated by mood lights.

Thanks to the flexibility of LED lighting, mood lights have now become a viable and relatively inexpensive way to create different effects in the home without having to constantly redecorate. Available as individual features, lighting modules or as wall panels, mood lights have the ability to create an almost limitless number of different lighting patterns and combinations which can be used to either draw attention to a particular feature or to add an overall wash of colour to a room.

Modules are the mood lighting alternatives which offer the most flexibility, as they are relatively small in size and also aesthetically pleasing in their own right so can be used without concealment. As a result of their design, they can be moved around the home as needed and either placed against a wall to create a low level wash of colour throughout the room, or placed either in front of or behind a plant or particular room feature where they create stunning effects through the combination of coloured light and shadows.

Individual mood lights are available in many shapes or sizes, and create unique features when placed around the home. They are also available in waterproof varieties and can be placed around, or in a bath or spa as a safer alternative to candles where they help create a relaxing atmosphere.

The most dramatic light effects are created through the use of mood panels; as when slotted together and mounted onto walls their effects can be quite stunning. Mood panels usually come with a selection of pre-programmed light sequences which vary between pulsating light sequences to those in which colours fade into each other gradually. Many also enable you to program your own colour sequences which are then controlled by use of a remote.

Many mood panels also have a sound function where the lights change in time with the beat of the music playing. This is a particularly spectacular feature as it?s really effective in creating a perfect ambience where both the music and lighting is in tune, ideal for both parties and quiet nights in.

Although mood lights are not intended to be the sole source of light in a room as they are not bright enough by themselves for reading or work, used in combination they are guaranteed to enhance the atmosphere in your home and provide a great focal point. Whether you choose individual mood lights, modules or panel, you can be sure that mood lighting will add a depth and dimension to your home that was never there before.
